COVID Programs for Small Businesses

Oliver Scott • Mar 27, 2021

The past year, without a doubt, has been challenging for every single one of us. Small businesses have had to pivot their focus from their usual operations to how to reach their consumers at home, getting a little creative, and frankly, that’s an understatement.

It has been inspiring to see how entrepreneurs have adjusted themselves to handle the massive blow of a global pandemic. The most popular phrase you’ll hear throughout all this is “We’re All In This Together” and it couldn’t be more true. There’s so much support out there to help each other and this post is meant to be a landing spot for links to assistance for small businesses as the light at the end of the tunnel is getting nearer.

Be sure to check your local county first for regular updates on grants and loans. Even though some come and go and you might have missed a deadline, others WILL pop up. For example, where we’re located in Pierce County, this page has links to several options for help and some are on their fourth financial assistance roll out.

You can also check your county’s main page for updates. An announcement just posted in The City of Tacoma that round 2 of the resiliency grant will be happening April 2nd. Check this page for more.

This grant is available to businesses who specifically had to close due to Covid-19 and the expenses that were involved.

Small business owners unsure as to how to proceed with tax assistance can attend brief courses that offer help with that, they’re usually free and accessible via Zoom. There’s one coming up on April 1st, more info here.

Here at Urban Biz, we’ve added a COVID Response Training Program aimed at addressing the issues entrepreneurs face due to the pandemic. It begins April 20th, 1pm-4 pm and will be online via Zoom. This program is a 3-part series with subjects ranging from accessing funding, bookkeeping, and financial projections. You can click here for more info. (It’s free)

We also highly recommend signing up for the Small Business Administration mailing list. Notifications are sent directly into your inbox every week with federal funding information and resources that could be a big help.

We will be updating this post as we see more information come in. You can also follow us on Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter (all @Urbanbizsps) with regular updates to new resources we find. We’re here to help!
